Replacement options: The only way to get a proper diagnosis and evaluation is to see a dentist for an exam, x-rays, evaluation and discussion of treatment options. Having said that, if the teeth are hopeless and there is sufficient bone (or with bone grafting), ideally you would want one implant for each tooth to stand alone. There are other reasonable options for fixed and removable implant retained prostheses.

1 tooth per possible: In theory one can place 1 implant per decayed tooth but that may not be necessary when multiple adjacent teeth are being replaced. for example if you are to loose 3 adjacent teeth due to severe decay it is possible to place two implants ans restore it with a 3 unit bridge rather then place 3 implants with individual crowns.

VIP for implants: Virtual Implant Placement is a dental implant software that offers a virtual treatment plan (location and # of implants) that can easily be transferred to a surgical template for clinical placement. Ask your dentist for more information.
