Ok to wait: It never hurts to call but in general, you most likely have had the nodules for many years so it's ok to wait. The swollen node might be related to the thyroid or something else. The thing that would make this urgent is if you have problems swallowing or breathing. Otherwise, follow through with the evaluation systematically. Good luck.

Thyroid: It is unlikely that a swollen lymph node you can feel is due to metastatic thyroid cancer. That said, you should have a fine needle aspiration biopsy of any nodule over1 cm in size. You can see a neck surgeon or call another endocrinologist. Your primary care doctor could order ultrasound and biopsy by interventional radiology at a local hospital.
