See below: Xiphoidalgia (xiphoidynia) is a relatively rare syndrome that is characterized by localized discomfort and tenderness over the xiphoid. Symptoms are often aggravated by eating a heavy meal or bending or twisting movements; they may also be associated with heavy work or a cough, suggesting a traumatic cause in some patients. Analgesics or a local anesthetic/steroid injection may be curative.
