Contraindicated ?: Because they both can elevate serotonin levels additive side effects can occur. Benefits must outweigh the risks - and the side effects must be carefully monitored. Serotonin syndrome symptoms include: agitation, diarrhea, incoordination, vomiting, increased heart rate, nausea/vomiting, increased blood pressure, and hallucinations. Nortriptyline blood levels could be monitored to prevent toxicity.
