Lexapro (escitalopram): is a great treatment for depression and anxiety. It is an SSRI and works by increasing serotonin in the body. It usually does not make things worse, but may take 2-4 weeks before it starts working. It has few side effects, and in fact you are being started on a very low dose. I usually start with 10 mg. I have had great success in my practice and in family members with this medication.

Being nervous is: understandable but unnecessary. Follow your docs orders and see how it goes. You can give him/her feedback in a few weeks and together make any changes that may be appropriate. Have you looked into behavioral approaches such as relaxation training, meditation, talk therapy also? Peace and good health. Do a search on mindfulness meditation. You might like it.
