Do sample test ?s: There are many sample tests available online to test yourself to see if you may have adhd--for example, if you google "adhd test" you should get quite a few options to check it out. U can also consult your doc to get an assessment--he/she may use some of the "check-list' questions to see if u have adhd. There is no blood test/scan for adhd. Consult doc. Good luck.

Neurodevelopmental : Adhd is a neurobiological disorder. As such it has neurodevelopmental findings. So besides questionnaires, there are physical signs that are seen in adhd. These help develop a target for treatement once a diagnosis is made. Drs these days are stuck on having a "test" for things-such as anmri or blood test. But physical signs are frequent & helpful in add. Get tested by a doctor who can do this.

Evaluation: Checklists may suggest possibility of adhd, but it takes a trained professional to conduct a full history of symptoms and how they impact a person's life and function in all settings. Adhd is a differential diagnosis (it may look like other diagnoses & vice versa) & a comorbid diagnosis (occurring at the same time as other diagnoses) with many other conditions & proper eval can elucidate.

Find a professional: Find a good psychologist or psychiatrist with lots of experiance with children. They will be familiar with the apa dsm IV diagnostic criteria for adhd. By gathering information form the parents and the teachers and observing and talking to the child the professional can make a determination.

ADHD: Diagnosis is made on a clinical basis. There are some very good structured clinical interview forms available that ask lots of pertinent questions and have rating scales. Seeing a psychiatrist known for assessing adhd is important. That md should provide the tests. No lab test can diagnose adhd.
