My Tongue Hurts: Right off i make an assumption that you are having an allergic reaction or side effect of something you have ingested. Without seeing the tongue and getting more of your story, i would also want to know if you have any other medication conditions or history of infections such as herpes. But, it may be wise to get on an anti-histamine right away and if the sensation worsens getting help.

The reasons can vary: Although the reasons can vary, this is usually one of a couple of inflammatory conditions: benign migratory glossitis, or lichen planus/lichenoid reaction. These aren't a danger to you but they can be irritating. Your oral surgeon should evaluate the lesion and may be able to treat it with a steroid rinse to make it feel better.
