Have red patches on tongue & in throat. saw my gp. said it was from stress and prescribed med. went away for few days but returned while still on med. red patches on tongue, roof and back of mouth. tongue hurts like it is burnt. what should i do? sch

Go back to your doc: You could have an infection of some type (bacterial, viral, fungal) or autoimmune disorder. This will require further testing. You did not say what the med was or whether you actuality are stressed. Your doc may be right about stress being a factor here but a diagnoses for your problem is still lacking. You may want to have a dentist look at it as well since they look at mouths all the time.

See your dentist : There are a number of things that can cause painful red patches in your mouth ranging for infections, viral, and sensitivity to food or additives to food. The best person to see is your dentist. Try can help you determine what is going on.
