There is hope...: Depends on a number of things including how quickly you seek help, type of treatment and how quickly it is given and what is the extent of permanent damage. Fortunately we have come a long way in improving the quality of life even in people with weak hearts.

It varies: If the loss of heart muscle wasn't too severe, you can usually return to normal activity. When more heart muscle is lost there can be significant fatigue, shortness of breath with activity and even swelling of the feet and ankles.
