Lower risk proven: Research studies have proven that vegetarians have a significantly lower risk of cancer, about 12% overall, but certain cancers are only 1/2 to 1/3 as common in vegetarians! however, in at least one study, vegetarians who also ate fish had an even lower risk than strict vegetarians.See www.Guardian.Co.Uk/science/2009/jul/01/vegetarians-blood-cancer-diet-risk & http://www.Pcrm.Org/search/?Cid=248.

No: The answer is in. All the good recent studies have showed no protection from cancer overall, not even colon cancer. There's some contradictory, small effects for particular cancers but this is the norm in retrospective epidemiology. The claim actually doesn't make sense biologically. Vegetarianism is a moral choice, not a health-promoting one. Choose based on accurate information.
