A member asked:

If 4000 mg for 6 weeks of vancomycyn wasnt enough to kill a stapholococcus infection of the bone wasnt enough to kill this infection what would be the next step in a situation like this?

No easy answer!: Depends on age, location (prosthesis, injury), other conditions that may have precipitated infection. Whether there is any sequestered infection in the bone which may require surgical removal, scrapping. There may be other combination of antibiotics. Linazolid is an antibiotic that has high tissue level penetration in bone. It has specificity for mrsa.
