Are there certain foods that will lower ldl cholesterol?|

LDL Cholesterol: The short answer is no and yes. Yes - eliminating or restricting the intake of some foods is generally accepted as a way to influence one's LDL cholesterol. However, this is very limited. That is, one can only reduce one's cholesterol by changing one's diet somewhat. Also, the numerical measure of LDL is only one indicator. The quality of the cholesterol particles can be even more important.

Plant sterols/stanol: Ldl cholesterol can be lowered by consuming foods enriched with plant sterol/stannol esters (eg. Margarines benecol or promise activ). One study showed up to14% drop in LDL over 3 months.
