A member asked:

Is it true that microalbuminuria an indication of renal biopsy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

?indication for bx?: Microalbuminuria is common in diabetes mellitus and is not an indication to biopsy. In non diabetic patients it is not nessecarily and indication either. It is an indication to aggressively treat the underlying cause. I.E. Hypertension, diabetes. If other diseases are suspected biopsy may be indicated, other tests are required. A nephrologist is needed to sort these issues out.
