Interstitial nephrit: The ideal treatment for interstitial nephritis (in) is to treat what is causing it. Avoid long term use of penecillins, diuretics, increase low potassium levels and reduce high levels of uric acid and calcium. Steroids or cyclophasmamide may need to be given. Renal failure leading to dialysis is rare. If it needed it is usually not long-term. In is severer in the elderly. What did your doctor say?
