How fast is fast?: First, is muscle inflamed or is bruised, torn? Is it muscle involvement at all? If it is muscular and inflamed, the rule is the larger the muscle and the longer it's been going on, the longer it will take to resolve, with or without treatment. If you know what caused it, stop it! use ice, immobilization, anti-inflammatories and maybe splint/support.
