Has lower back ache for few hours after taking asacol (mesalamine) . i am also on remicade for uc. should i stop asacol (mesalamine)? had this effect while taking prednisone.

Possible: As you well know Asacol (mesalamine) is used to treat uc and the must common side effects are abdominal cramping and stomach ache and althogh back pain is a more rare side effect certainly is possible.Stop taken the medicine and see if the back pain goes away and if it does you know is the medicine, them you should discuss it with your physician.(never dc a medicine without first consulting with your dr.
