Newcastle virus: Newcastle disease virus causes a deadly infection in many kinds of birds. In humans, it causes mild flu-like symptoms or conjunctivitis and/or laryngitis. Strains of all viruses vary in some structural components and this may increase or decrease their capacity to cause disease. Strains of NCV have been used in experiments to treat some cancers.
