Yes: There are two types of hiv-hiv 1 and hiv2.Both are transmitted thru sexual contact, thru blood , and from mother to child and they appear to cause clinically indistinguishable aids.However, hiv2 is less easily transmitted & period bet.Initial infection/illness is longer w hiv2(concentrated in w.Africa, rarely fd elsewhere).Worldwide, predominant virus is hiv-1 w subgroups m, n, o & p.
