A member asked:

What can you tell me about the new strain of the coxsackie virus? can it physically show itself again 6 weeks later?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Coxsackie A6: "newer" to the U.S. Is coxsackie a6, which can cause a more serious hand-foot-mouth illness (more widespread rash with bigger symptoms). Cases have been seen in alabama, connecticut, california, nevada, etc... A normal person should be immune to one strain of coxsackie after an illness, but there are quite a few other strains of these "enteroviruses" that can cause hand-foot-mouth symptoms.
