See below: Bacterial resistance means that a bacteria is resistant to the bacteristatic or bactericidal effects of one or more antibiotics. There are many mechanisms that bacteria use to develop this resistance. They include the production of enzymes that degrade the antibiotic, altering the binding site of the antibiotic, pumping the antibiotic out of the cell after penetration etc.
