A member asked:

Is it safe to take zantac (ranitidine) when you don't know if you're experiencing the reflux symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Sometimes we use ranitidine for trials to see if certain symptoms will improve - such as if someone has a chronic cough or a lump sensation in the throat. Usually there are few side effects, so a brief trial wouldn't cause any problems.
