Yes: Ranitidine is the chemical or generic name for Zantac a commercial product. In the usa most all generics are considered highly rated and generally speaking generic ranitidine "should" work equal to branded Zantac for acid reflux. Note Famotidine is generic for Pepcid (famotidine) and Omeprazole for prilosec. Omeprazole is a more potent acid reducing medication, but for acid reflux not always better.
