YES, see a doctor: You have to stay physically and emotionally healthy to care for your baby (and yourself). Being a new mother can be incredibly stressful — you deserve help when you need it. There are many treatments for depression, including some that don't interfere with breast-feeding. Talk to your primary care doctor, or get a referral to a mental health professional (eg, psychiatrist or psychologist).

Yes: You should certainly see a physician to discuss treatment options. That drastic of weight loss is not healthy, especially while you are breastfeeding. It sounds like your depression is severe and needs treatment. If you have recently delivered and are suffering from depression, your physician should also discuss how you are coping with your new child and the dangers of postpartum depression.

See a doctor: Absolutely see a doctor as soon as possible. Your health and the health of your child are the most important things to think of. Surround yourself with supportive people before you see your doctor. Seek help in an emergency room setting if you have thoughts of death or suicide.

Right away: Post partum depression is a medical emergency and needs to be quickly evaluated and treated because it can very quickly become more severe and can lead to suicide or violence. You have lost 1/6 of your body weight already, and that is not helping your baby. You should see a psychiatrist without delay and start therapy and antidepressant treatment if indicated.

Absolutely!: It sounds like you might have a clinical depression and should be evaluated by a competent mental health professional. You might start by seeing your physician to get a referral, as well as to check your thyroid and blood levels to rule out other causes.
