What is the difference between invisalign and real braces?

Orthodontics: Invisalign is a special type of orthodontic treatment using a series of clear retainers to move and align teeth without brackets, bands, and wires that are commonly used in traditional orthodontic therapy. Your dentist or orthodontist can advise you if you are a candidate for invisalign as not all malocclusions can be treated with the technique.

Removable: Invisalign (any invisible aligners) are clear plastic that are removable. Patient can take them out, eat and brush and place them in mouth again. They also make regular check ups at the dental office easier. The teeth move as you place each new aligner set in the mouth. Braces consist of brackets and wires that are afixed to the teeth (and therefore not removable). The teeth move by tightening.

Invisalign: Invisalign are clear trays like retainers that move your teeth. It's just a cosmetic alternative to braces with the following benefits: eat whatever you want, easier to keep your teeth and gums clean, look better than braces.

Big difference: Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of clear aligners while traditional braces are individual brackets applied to each tooth with wires that connect them. The appearance is obviously different, but both move teeth effectively.

For Adults Invisalig: Generally for adults-invisalign. They are more comfortable, braces shred your lips and tongue. Nearly invisible and work faster. You do not have to change your diet, which is something that you have to do with braces there is a list of foods you can't eat. But invisalign can not fix everything. There are some bad bites that can only be treated with braces. Look into both.

Cost/time/look: essentially they do the same thing, but work in different ways. not everyone is a candidate for invisalign and they tend to cost more, but if you don't want metal in the mouth, it may be a great option.

Trade off: It's a matter of appearance version function. Clear trays look better, but braces work better.
