In Down Syndrome...: Children with trisomy 21 (down syndrome) can develop something called transient myeloproliferative disorder (tmd). It is on the spectrum of aml, but it can spontaneously regress. Other times, it may either require low dose chemotherapy if it is affecting organ function (liver), or it can develop into full blown aml, requiring intensive chemotherapy.
