A parasite: Toxoplasmosis is a parasite that lives in the cat digestive system. It is transmitted to humans through contact with cat feces in kitty litter, with soil that cats have defecated in or with a cat's anus (groomers or vets). It typically just causes a mild flu-like syndrome. Like any other infection, it can be serious in immune-compromised people, like those with aids or on chemotherapy.
