Combination: Exercise in general, coupled w/ diet, helps you lose belly fat. A combo of too much of the wrong kinds of carbs & not enough active muscle tissue is what sets up belly fat. It's added to by age, hormones & stress. Spot reducing exercise can make belly muscles stronger & shapelier, but you won't see them until the calories come down & your other muscles are toned & gobbling up glucose.

Mixed -Spot fat loss: Doesn't occur naturally. By losing weight in general some will probably be ab fat. But, we don't get to choose what area of body fat is lost from. Eat healthy ; be physically active. Calories burned must > those consumed. Tighten ab's: crunches, reverse crunches, exercise ball crunches, pelvic thrusts, lying leg raises, side bridge ; “bicycling” exercise on back. Do regular aerobic exercise.
