See a physician: If you suspect an ankle fracture you should see a physician sooner than later. Fractures will result in sudden severe pain, possible bruising, swelling, inability to bear weight, and limited range of motion. A fracture can only definitively diagnosed with an x-ray, which will require a physician's order.

Broken?: Without more information it is difficult to tell. Is it painful, swollen, bruised? Can you walk on it? If you suspect a broken ankle it would be best to see a doctor and get x-rays.

See a Doctor: The mechanism of injury, if any, and any clinical and radiographic features would have to be considered first and foremost in order to make this diagnosis.
