Easy.......and Hard.: There are fractured ankles and then there are fractured ankles. The grossly fractured ones are generally easy to recognize by eye, where as the more subdued ones will need an x-ray to confirm their presence. In most circumstances expect swelling, pain, bruising and weakness. If there is any doubt, see a doctor and they will be happy to confirm.
