Other studies suggest the mortality of itp from published case series ranges from 0.3 to 5 percent, consistent with the estimated frequency of intracranial hemorrhage. However, these are older studies and current results are likely significantly better.

It's very rare, but: Does happen. If ones platelet count fall to low enough, spontaneous bleeding can occur. Head bleeds, for example, can be both spontaneous and life-threatening. That being said, the plts that a person with itp does have tend to be more thrombofenic because they are "younger". This helps to mitigate the consequences of low PLT count. Your dr.
