No, not necessarily.: Though men with enlarged prostates tend to have more urinary symptoms, there is no clear correlation between prostate volume and urinary bother. Prostates increase in size because nodules of tissue within the prostate enlarge. If a nodule starts to block urine outflow, you can get urinary frequency even with a relatively small prostate. Some men with very large prostates have minimal bother.
