Antipsychotic: Mellaril is an older antipsychotic agent, used to help people with hallucinations, delusions, etc. Smaller doses can also be used for very severe anxiety and sleeplessness. It can cause a lot of dry mouth, constipation, difficulty urinating, and dizziness when standing up though.

Thioridazine: Also known as mellaril, is one of older antipsychotic medications with significant side-effects especially if used with other medications, to include abnormal muscle movements, diabetes, increase cholesterol, effect on heart, excess sedation, excess dryness, etc.

Thioridazine: The brand named product (Mellaril) was withdrawn from the worldwide market in 2005. It caused prolongation of the Qtc interval & cardiac arrythmias. Generic products can still be purchased Thioridazine is used for the treatment of psychosis.
