if there is a lacer: If there is a laceration that cannot be held together by butterfly bandaging then you do need some stitches. Stitching the area together will give you a longer and better outcome.

Probably: If you have an injury to the skin that is more than 5mm long it should be cleaned out, closed with sutures and you should take antibiotics. You also need an evaluation to make sure that there is no nerve, artery or tendon injury.
