A member asked:

If i have auto immune hypothyroidism, is it possible for me to get another autoimmune disease?

Yes, but: Autoimmune hypothyroidism is extremely common in the general population. Most people who acquire this first do not go on to develop another autoimmune disease. Having said that, there is still an increased chance in developing another autoimmune disease compared to people who do not have autoimmune disease at all.

Yes: Yes, autoimmune disease is linked to genetics and leaky gut syndrome. You should work on healing the gut and avoiding gluten in order to reduce your risk of other autoimmune disease. Read about the connection here http://doccarnahan.Blogspot.Com/2012/04/leaky-gut-syndrome-linked-to-many.Html.
