Depends: This depends on the depth of the depression. If you're referring to inpatient treatment, these days it's generally limited to crisis stabilization of a few days to a week, with referral to outpatient care, or intensive outpatient (iop) program. People are seen in these iop groups for several weeks, but they also have an outpatient psychiatrist and often therapist to work with over time.

DEPRESSION: Depression lasts for different lengths of time for different people. Get an evaluation from a psychiatrist to help identify what depression means to you and whatever else may be bothering you. Consider recommendations for medication if any are given. Get a referral for a reputable psychotherapist to speak with. Meds and therapy combined are most optimal; no just one or the other.
