Weeks to months: You will see the tightened and smoother skin soon after a tummy tuck, but there is often an area of numbness or reduced sensitivity in the lower abdomen. This can take several months to resolve but is not usually bothersome.

Nerves are stretched: Most of the time after abdominoplasty the nerves are stretched and therefore can regain feeling. There are some nerves that need to be intentionally severed to do the operation. These areas may or may not regain sensitivity.

Complicated: After a tummy tuck part of your skin will stay numb permanently. This is usually the part in the lower central portion of your tummy and has to do with the way the operation is performed. There will be some recovery of feeling in this area up to about a year, then it will stay that way permanently.
