A member asked:

Does a hairline fracture always need a cast?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You may: With most fractures of the extremities, some type of immobilization is needed. It may not be a cast. It could be splinting, taping, bracing, special shoe(if foot) or casting. There are a variety of techniques to stabilize a fracture. The type used will depend on a variety of factors. Your doctor can explain what option(s) are available for your situation. Dr l.
