Should be: healed. I am not sure how long the cast was on but as long as his bones are normal these types of fractures heal within 12-16 weeks. If you concerned that it is not healed, ask your doctor for a reassessment to include an XR. He should not still be experiencing pain.

Fracture: A hairline fracture is a descriptive for a very faint line seen on x-ray associated with a fracture. So if pain and swelling is persistent after trauma an x-ray can reveal a hairline fracture. There can be subtle shifts in the way the wrist loads form even a hairline fracture, there can be weakness from disuse. Sometimes pain persists with certain tasks for months. CHECK with treating doc 2bsure
