Depends: Depends what you mean by "hip". Posterior hip pain can be from the musculature in the buttock or may be the hip joint itself. Sacroiliac joint pain can respond very well to a steroid injection or even radiofrequency ablation. A spine specialist can determine where the pain is coming from; a rheumatologist may be needed too.
