Wellbutrin (bupropion) & Prozac: Sometimes wellbutrin (bupropion) is added to Prozac in an effort to augment its antidepressant effect. Other times, low dose wellbutrin (bupropion) is added to counteract sexual side effects of prozac, such as lowered sexual desire and difficulty with orgasm. Although incidence of sexual side effects was relatively low during clinical trials, some later reports indicate up to 75% of patients do experience these.

Added benefit: Wellbutrin (bupropion) is considered one of the only energizing antidepressant. Often it is added for this benefit or to try and affect dopsmine to counteract depressive symptoms. Thus, it may be added if there is a partial response to prozac.
