Gain less: The baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, breast enlargement, and increased blood volume can amount to 20-25 lbs. If you only gain 10 lbs with your pregnancy, your fat stores will decrease by 15 lbs. A small amount of weight gain during pregnancy is important to ensure you are eating enough protein and other building blocks for normal fetal development. Even if obese, a 10 lb wt gain is recommended.
