A member asked:

What causes periumbilical pain & numbness 1 week post abdominal hysterectomy for very large fibroid?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Retractors: It is common to have numbness and pain at the site of your incision. If your incision is not near your umbilicus, then i would blame the retractor (a surgical instrument used to hold open the incision). The pain should resolve as you recover, the numbness may or may not.
