Clipping: Frenulectomy or frenuloplasty are the terms used for clipping of a tongue tie. In adults, can be done in the office. In infants, typically do under sedation. Very simple and takes only a few minutes. May use dissolvable stitches depending on doctor preference.

DEPENDS: The procedure varies with the age & degree of the abnormality. When a minor tie is noted at birth, it might stretch out over time & may be left alone.When it interferes with breast feeding or parents express concern, I can do a simple release in the office or procedure room (scissors and clamp) with the kid feeding immediately after.Older kids or adults have this done asleep by oral surgeon/ENT
