After swelling: Normally after a puncture wound the tongue swells, unless it is anemergency, i would recommend that you wait until the swelling disappears. If you suspect a problem, go asap.

Wait for healing: Let the wound heal. Better yet, remove the tongue jewelry. It can cause dental problems such as broken teeth and gum recession.

Tongue piercing: It's best to wait a few day until the tongue is healed before you get elective dental procedures. I case of emergency it's ok to have treatment as needed. There is a good chance that antibiotic will be used for the emergency procedure.
