Keep mouth clean: If the tongue was burned by mechanical means (abraded), it will heal like any other injury--including biting your own tongue. If the tongue was burned by chemical means during your root canal retreatment, it depends upon the severity of the chemical burn and the nature of the chemical agent. You should follow up with your dentist very carefully. Daily rinses with warm salt water will soothe wound.

Burnt tongue?: Not sure how this could have happened, but did you talk to your dentist about it? A small burn will probably heal on its own without any problems. Just try to not aggravate it. You can get orabase ointment at the pharmacy without a prescription. This is an oral bandage that you can put on the area to keep it covered while you are eating.

Peroxyl Mouthwash : Try a mouthwash called peroxyl. You can buy it at any pharmacy. It works really well for burns. Avoid hot drinks and foods for 48 hours. Avoid spicy foods. The tongue heals very quickly - you should feel better within a day or two if not, contact your dentist.

Keep mouth clean: Unfortunately, a burn during a dental procedure sometimes occurs. However, this rarely leads to an infection. Keep your mouth and tongue clean, rinse with listerine and salt water, and you will be fine. Keep smiling !
