Almost never.: Usually not. Typically occurs in middle aged females and has characteristic trigger points which are located primarily on the torso and proximal extremities.

Yes and no: A child can meet the diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia, but i hesitate to make a formal diagnosis until the child has reached skeletal maturity. If symptoms persist to the age of 18-20, then a medical evaluation & treatment should be considered. Delaying treatment until puberty/skeletal maturity will not accelerate the condition. Meanwhile, help your child stay active and get healthy sleep.
