Fibromyalgia describes a condition in which there is widespread pain above and below the waist on both sides of the body usually associated with other features like poor sleep, fatigue, sometimes thinking problems, sometimes problems with the bowels and bladder and sometimes depression.

Specific cause: Fibromyalgia is a specific cause of pain, recognized on the basis of presence of specific tender/trigger points.
