Irregular menses: A negative pregnancy test rules out pregnancy. If you have been having unprotected intercourse and even after a negative test you are still worried, a serum preg test can be obtained from your doctor. You do not necessarily ovulate every cycle and can have a skipped or light bleed as you described. Keeping a menstrual calendar would help here.
