Limit simple carbs: A plant-based diet is very healthy but I would limit processed simple carbs like white flour and white rice, as they tend to raise blood sugar. White potatoes and high-glycemic fruits like dates should also be limited but all of these are OK in moderation. Sweet potatoes actually raise blood sugar less than white potatoes!
