A member asked:

Can you get too much vitamin a or c by just diet alone? i eat one or 2 oranges and a few cups of carrots and sweet potatoes daily in my diet

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO: Nothing harmful with these foods in these amounts. Overdose of vitamins happens only from supplements, not foods. Large amounts of carotenes in certain foods can make your skin orange colored, but that is all. Preformed vitamin A in supplements, which does not occur in food, can be toxic in large doses. Overdose of supplemental vitamin A causes birth defects, dry skin, headaches, and other things.
